A correct treatment and proper storage of fur articles are among the main conditions of preserving fur quality for a long time. An off-season is the extremely important stage in fur article "life", requiring  your higher attention.
Preparing your fur article for summer keeping, you should examine it carefully. It dry cleaning or repairing is required, it is better to make it in spring. First, some vacant space in your wardrobe will appear.
     Secondly, it is possible to make the in details and in a quiet manner, without any rush. Thirdly, spring-time dry cleaning has a multipurpose character: it does not only delete dirty, but also carriers out preventive measures against vermin. If everything is all right, one may accurately comb the article with a soft pet-brush. It is the excellent method of struggle with dirty suspension, regularly falling out on furs in every large city.
     From April till September the storage conditions, resembling "a polar night on the Antarctic Continent", should be established for fur articles. It means wide scope , darkness, and cold.

     Wide scope.
     A fur coat should be stored in the wardrobe on the wide hanger in side the fabric cover. In any case, the cover must not be made of plastic. Having been covered by a plastic material, a fur article may become foul . A wardrobe should not be filled with clothes too densely, it is necessary to leave gaps between articles, otherwise fur may become crushed . Each article, packed in a cover, must occupy a place with the length of 30cm (not less) along the hanger.

     Darkness.
     The cover has the double function: on the one hand, it forms microclimate pernicious  for clothes-moth, on the other hand, it protects articles from daylight, which is the basic reason for furs to turn yellow. In summer sunlight is so intensive, that if the uncovered fur is in the wardrobe, and its doors are frequently open, the sideof the article, turned to light may fade. Furs with a natural grey-pale-blue range of colours ("sapphire", "blue iris", "silvery-blue", "violet" mink, silvery-black fox, blue fox) are especially afraid of sunlight. There are also snow-coloured and dyed furs in "the zone of a higher risk".
     Before the season of wearing a fur coat should be pulled out from a cover and taken airing during several days. Thus, the nap of crumpled fur is rising, and the smell of anti-moth means is weakening. It is better to make this operation in the scantly lit room with good air convection. Since a fur coat refreshed, you may comb it accurately once again. Now you are completely ready to the cold weather approach.
     There is a simplified variant, as the specialized fur storehouse, in your arsenal. The only task is to deliver a fur coat there, and all the rest will be done without your participation.

    Cold.
     The storage in refrigerator is practical, convenient, and simple, as
multiplication by ten. First, your fur coat will be regularly examined by experts and "maintained" at the proper time. Secondly, the article will be well protected from sunlight and moth, so the tedious  duty of regular airing will disappear. Thirdly, by the beginning of the season the fur coat will have been in a fine condition: combed and fluffy. In-fourth, rather large vacant space in your wardrobe will appear.
     The storage of furs is usually an attendant service rendered by a producing company or by a dry-cleaning enterprise, but well organized storage requires large financial investments and a lot of technical problems to be solved. A competent project of premises, complex equipment for constant temperature and humidity level keeping, fire-safety systems, as well as a reliable security system are strongly required. That is why one should pay much attention to the reputation of a company on the business market and get to know more, in detail, about technical equipment of the storehouse.
     The well organized half-yearly period of "peace and quiet" in combination with a correct treatment during the wearing season essentially prolong the service term of fur. Our ancestors have known it very well, as the expensive fur articles were inherited for many generations.
